Sarah Palin (R), governor of Alaska, is Senator John McCain's vice presidential choice for the Republican ticket.
She is running against Democrats Senator Barack Obama and Senator Joe Biden for the oval office. Palin is the first woman to be nominated as a vice president candidate on a Republican ticket. Her candidacy, comes months after democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton ended her historic campaign.
