[edit] What activities or entertainment would you like us to bring to campus?

[edit] About

An important part of the Office of Student Activities, NYU Program Board is a student-run organization dedicated to providing affordable, worthwhile entertainment and coordinating special events for the entire NYU community. Program Board reaches out to the university community by co-sponsoring major events and theme months with other clubs and departments. Program Board is comprised of a diverse committee of students dedicated to bringing something new to their student body, connecting them to new art, music, and ideas happening nationwide.

Program Board provides an eclectic variety of cultural, artistic, and often times educational entertainment that connects the NYU student body to the community in which it thrives. Past events have included concerts by Sonic Youth, Moby, Xiu Xiu, the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Modest Mouse, The Magnetic Fields, Cat Power, M. Ward, and The National; Lectures by Harvey Pekar, Jim Carroll, Andrew W.K., Amy Sedaris, and Michael Showalter; a popular weekly film series; an Urban Barn Raising in Washington Square Park hosted by a London based Architect, New York City Parks and Recreation Department, and Program Board Performing Arts Committee; and an intimate talk/acoustic performance with Yo La Tengo (all, by the way, were awesome, sell out events).

Membership in Program Board offers opportunities to gain worthwhile experience while working with professionals in the arts and entertainment fields. Program Board members are responsible for every step of the event planning process, from booking of talent and contract negotiation to technical production and publicity.

Committees include: Concerts, New Music, Pre-Release, Film Series, Lectures, Performing Arts, Poets & Writers, Student Arts, Visual Arts, Archive, Membership, and Publicity.

[edit] Officers

  • Lily Oswald - President, SENIOR IN GALLATIN!

Lily Oswald is best known for her high waisted jean, her explosive laugh, and speaking mandarin every so cutely. Originally from Dutch country, this young entrepreneur is set to take over a jewelry empire.

  • Kate Otto - Vice President, Senior, International Relations

The people of PB believe strongly Kate will save the world. Passionate, devoted, and exhaustingly ambitious, Kate connects various clubs across campus, helping us collaborate and work together as a community. If you can’t find Kate, it’s more than likely she is in Africa hugging children in need.

  • Daniel Nicolas - Treasurer, Freshman in Tisch, Accounting

Daniel grew up in Chelsea and attended Bronx High School of Science. He enjoys movies, basketball, playing guitar, Seinfeld reruns, and hop-scotch. He has a knack and omniscient prowess for finding good deals. In the eighth grade he rapped his president's speech to MC Hammer. He aspires to someday herd whales.

  • Kristen Barry - Secretary, Freshman, Undecided

Kristen is in charge of the Office. She keeps things in check. She labels boxes and refills staplers. All of these things are important. Kristen takes notes and writes the greatest minutes. Her hair is naturally blue and she wears tights. She may be from Westchester she sure plays a mean Ukulele.

Committee Chairs

  • Mad Gomez - Concerts,Senior; Sociology & Public Policy

Mad is all about tough love and booking sell out shows. She’s passionate about helping the folks in her community. She’s been an RA since birth and has a very strong maternal awareness. She teaches us about sex ed at the most random times and we love her for it. She looks good in green and gives the best hugs this side of the Mississippi.

  • Raisa "Raisita" Glabman - Film Series,Junior; Anthropology, Psych

Raisa rocks Monday (and now Thursday) nights with the PB film series. She loves screenings because it gives people one day a week to chill out, de-stress and watch a good movie. Her favorite films are those which people get really psyched about and even come in costume! Program Board is awesome for being able to do that.

  • Jamie Simone - Lectures, Junior; Communications

Jamie Simone is originally from RI. She enjoys dance parties, correct grammar, pizza, arts & crafts, and discussing the cultural/social significance of the band Hanson. If she does not end up working in the music business, she will most likely become a ghosthunter/professional dog-walker. She is very tall so if you ever can't reach something in the PB Office she will always be there to help.

  • Mallory Blair Greitzer - New Music, Sophomore in Gallatin

Mallory enjoys showing off and talking about herself, which is why she agreed to write this blurb in the first place. Her favorite concert this year was seeing the Spice Girls, after which, she says, her life can only go downhill. Mallory is often compared to various cartoon characters but rarely real people. She wonders why this is. Aside from this, Mallory can run laps around a track while hula-hooping.

  • Mary Bullock - Performing Arts, Junior; Communications & Food Studies

Mary is best known for designing super rad show posters; we hope this brings her money someday. She has often been caught reading food blogs about macaroni and cheese. She bakes sexy vegan cupcakes, is really into fried food, free yoga, and riding her mother’s bike around the city with a large kitchen knife in her satchel.

  • Liz Daly - Poets & Writers, Senior; Music Business

Liz is a fan of John Hodgman, female cab drivers, coffee, free movies and food. She may be small but she’s fierce and knows how to wrap a present like she was getting paid.

  • China Bay Smith "The Decider"- Pre-Release, Senior; Entertainment Business and Broadcast Journalism

China brings us films that haven’t been released to the public and this makes everyone feel cooler. She’s known best for silencing a room with her sassiness. She has met Tim Gunn and that makes her a superhero in many of our eyes. We’re fairly certain she will do a fine job in the film business.

  • Allie Nudelman - Student Arts, Senior; Anthropology and Public Policy

Hi. I'm Allie. I want to save the world eventually. I'm from New Jersey, but you probably know that if you've heard me speak before. I have the worst sense of direction in the world, I really like apples, and my hands are disproportionately too large for my arms.

  • Jamie Feldmar - Visual Arts, Junior; Food Studies and Anthropology

Jamie is an explorer. In the last year Jamie has been to China, Israel, and Texas. She's into bicycles, dancing, and sneaking into bars. She recently started drinking beer and this makes her friends very proud. Jamie is also a big fan of pork and getting her friends to eat cheeseburgers with her. She can often be found watching, “Flight of the Conchords” in her closet sized apartment.

  • Maxwell Zorick - Archivist, Freshman; CAS Undecided

Maxwell Zorick is an avid snoozer and schmoozer. He enjoys eating, especially tuna melts and cheeseburgers. Additionally, his favorite color is heather gray.

  • Ray v Luna Jr. - Membership, Senior; Nursing

Ray is responsible for providing food for every general meeting, recruiting new members, organizing events to recruit new members, and party planning for current members. Ray is known for living in Queens, being super sassy, and having really awesome style. He is admired for his honesty, sweetness, and his brownies. About to become a Nurse, the people of PB are convinced that this kid will heal many with his winning personality.

  • Brenda Malvini -Publicity, (5th Year) Senior; Music Tech

Brenda spends her time telling NYU kids about our events. She is always running around and is always cleaning the office. Brenda is best known for having a dance off at the latest Akron/Family show and winning. She prefers to spend her time making coffee and writing music. Brenda hopes to one day graduate from college and make it to Europe.
